"While they were talking with the people in the car, there were two shots that came from the woods. The officers advised dispatch and they got it twisted around and advised the  who thought the Canton officers were being shot at. The two shots came from a deer hunter in the woods."

4. A committee of city council members charged with solving Canton's water billing problems will meet at 4:45 p.m. today to consider rescinding the 30 percent water rate increase the city imposed on customers earlier this year. Last month, a motion to roll back the rate failed. Council members wanted to rescind it after ongoing water billing problems revealed years of underbilling and other errors. However, they decided that staff should conduct more due diligence to determine how far the rate should roll back. At the time, Mayor Gene Hobgood said he received information indicating the city's revenue for water and sewer from May to September is about $689,000 less than it was during the same time period in 2010.
