Water & Sewer Revenue Down $689K

4. Another called council meeting to discuss the city's was held Thursday night. Because Canton switched to a new software system, its billing schedule got behind. In order to get back on the regular billing schedule, the council voted to send some water customers two bills in one envelope as early as next week. One bill will have an extended due date so customers won't have to pay both at the same time.

5. A motion to roll back the that council members passed earlier this year failed on Thursday. Council members want to rescind it after ongoing water billing problems revealed years of underbilling and other errors. However, they want staff to conduct more due diligence to determine how far the rate should roll back. Plus, Hobgood said he received information that indicated the city's revenue for water and sewer from May to September is about $689,000 less than it was during the same time period in 2010.
