Cherokee Fire Marshal Rick Ruh Retires

Rick Ruh retired after serving seven years as Cherokee County's fire marshal.

After nearly seven years of serving Cherokee County residents, Fire Marshal Rick Ruh retired last week.

The Cherokee County Fire Marshal retired from Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services on Tuesday, April 15.

Ruh became fire marshal in November 2007. Before coming to Cherokee, Ruh, worked for a large fire protection engineering firm where he was vice president of engineering and consulting.

Cherokee County Fire Chief, Tim Prather, presented Ruh with a firefighter bugle trophy and thanked him for his service to the department and
the county during a ceremony held on Tuesday in Canton.

The bugle symbolizes an early method of communication firefighters
used to coordinate their efforts. Cherokee County Commission Chairman Buzz
Ahrens also thanked Ruh for his service to the county.
