Most of the Christians drink and use contraceptives. The social issues are pushing GOP voters away. It's not realistic or smart to make these the issues. The Tea Party Patriots for destroying the power of the GOP.

CCA is a long way from all inclusive as far as students eligible to enroll. The public schools deal with the parents that not only can't or don't volunteer, but students who have parents who don't take care of their children. The CCSD teachers have students who are living in horrible conditions, bounced from home to home, relative to relative, don't have adequate clothes or food. These students are testing with the same students who have 2 college educated parents who think their the most special children on earth, who make sure they have everything they need. They are just as deserving of an education and just as special. They just don't have a parent speaking out on their behalf. There are parents who are college educated, who think their child is the most special on earth, volunteer and take an active interest in the CCSD and they seem to be the ones who see the hard work, dedication and extremely qualified teachers. They appreciate and respect the work they do, realize that they aren't speaking up out of fear and their students are thriving. It's been said before, but if you really were involved in the CCSD school your child attended and devoted HALF of the time to volunteering at that school, you wouldn't be making the comments you do...with the exception possibly of one extremely vile person, who I don't think has anything except a financial interest in CCA.

They can't fill it! Nobody is knocking down their doors. Current parents were pressuring neighbors and friends to enroll their students. Unless you're trying to enroll in kindergarten the school is wide open to accept students. Where's the line? Where are the class sizes? They have already let teachers go and their "volunteer" parents are doing the administrative role yet they don't know how many students are in each grade? Right (wink).

The statements about the special needs students at CCA (only accept speech problems) is accurate and factual. If there's a waiting list, why is enrollment not maxed out? Because classes light kindergarten are maxed out and they can't fill the other classes. That's a fact. Out of 38,000 only 850 students or their parents weren't satisfied (and keeping in mind that some families have mutiple students enrolled at CCA) is a high percentage of suuport. The fact that a low percentage of parents responded to the survey and according to CCA, 95% are satisfied isn't a rousing show of support. It's the distortion presented by CCA. 95% that ANSWERED the survey, not "95% of the parents are satisfied." CCA has special needs students, omitting the fact that only a very small percentage and that the only special need students accepted were those with speech problems, not the variety of disabilities of all kinds accepted, taught and tested in the CCSD. The fact that there is diversity, but not the percentage of diversity in CCDS based on the student demographics. The fact that after school lessons in ballet, mandarin, guitar, etc were presented as if it was a part of CCA curriculm, when in fact it is additional lessons parents pay for and not part of the curriculm. The fact that Danny Dukes is erroneously stating the facts on funding. These are some of the reasons that there is distrust and disbelief.

If you look at Charter Schools USA in Florida, through the DOE and check their scores on AYP, they have a dismal record. Why is it that in an apples to apples, federally mandated test they can't succeed? Also, you might want to check the demographics at the schools for those special needs stats and the number that qualify for free/reduced lunch. Even without the challenges faced in public schools, they can't pass AYP. Any parent concerned about a quality education should take a few minutes and check it out. Unlike the glowing pictures and ads, these are facts and a matter of public record. BIG RED FLAG! Compare the Charter School USA demographics for the public schools in the area and look at the percentages of the special needs students they serve and the economically disadvantaged and look at their scores side by side. Florida DOE, AYP scores and demographics, folks. You wil NOT see them boast or publish those statistics in their ads. You won't see it on their website..Schools of Excellence..NOT!

The only special needs students they have are ones with a speech diability. There were students with other disabilities that were told they couldn't accept the students. That's a fact! Those students are not at CCA. CCSD accepts ALL students, teach all students and make any and all accomodations for those students and their needs out of the budget money that CCA is demanding be sent to them to cover their financial deficit that has NOT been resolved. Parents were asking for their child's permanent record to be changed to make them more "acceptable" at CCA. They weed out those students and have an exemption for having to accept all students. Shameful use of money and just another example of the uneven playing field, lack of transparency and distortions advertised by CCA, and the questionable Danny Dukes. What's even more shameful? The lack of support and assault on our public school students by Chip Rogers, Sean Jergenson, Charlize Byrd and Calvin Hill, the anti-education quartet.

Thank goodness that Danny Dukes, of the failed Appalachian Bank has cleared up another misconception about CCA financing and debt. Now if CCA receives full funding that has never been afforded to the counties, I'm sure Chip Rogers can give us an explanation as legitimate as the one he gave when he defaulted on the $2.2M loan..ignorance! I can sleep easy knowing those two are in charge of CCA instead of CCSD!!
