Cities Get Pill Drop Boxes

"The community expressed a desire for the pill box to keep the environment safe and because of the rise of prescription pill cases," Canton Police spokeswoman Candy Worthy said.

County residents now have a way to properly discard outdated or unwanted prescription drugs thanks to the Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad. The agency has donated pill drop boxes to the Canton, Holly Springs and Woodstock Police Departments. "With the continued rise of prescription drug related deaths in Georgia in the last two years, it is important that prescription drugs are disposed of so that others are not tempted to steal them and get high," Squad Cmdr. Phillip W. Price said this afternoon. "And the method used to dispose of the drugs does not put the environment at risk." People can drop pills in the boxes, which are located in the lobbies of each police agency. In Canton, drop off hours are between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., …
