Early Morning Fire Near Canton Injures Two

A man and a woman both received second-degree burns in the blaze.

A man and woman suffered second degree burns in an early Saturday morning fire near Canton. Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services personnel were dispatched to a fire at 11258 Bells Ferry Road just south of Butterworth Road near Canton shortly after 2:15 a.m.  Fire fighters arrived on the scene and discovered heavy flames coming from the one-story home. The two occupants inside were awaken by a smoke alarm, but suffered injuries from the blaze. A 36-year-old man received second-degree burns to his shoulders and a 31-year-old woman also received second-degree burns to her left shoulder. Both were transported by ambulance to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta where they are being treated for their injuries. The home was destroyed …

Bells Ferry Road Closure Update

It will take the rest of the afternoon to repair the water main break.

The following information is provided courtesy of the Cherokee County Emergency Operations Center: 12:30 p.m. Bells Ferry Road north of Butterworth Road remains shut down due to continued repairs on the water main break.  The road is expected to be closed approximately 5-6 more hours. Avoid the area if possible.  This water outage only affects one property therefore a boiled water advisory will not be issued.
