At this weekend's 4-AAAA State Wrestling Championships, senior Joe Hulen (138-pound weight class) won fourth place and junior Michael Edwards (132) placed sixth.
Six Creekview Grizzlies competed in the 2012 Georgia State Traditional Wrestling Championships at The Arena at Gwinnett Center. Held Thursday through Saturday, Creekview battled wrestlers form all over the state. Although Creekview would have liked more medals, the team's future is bright under the direction of head coach Wyatt Wilkie and co-coach Kevin Higgins. After the loss of many seniors last year, the 2012 team rallied back with support from a strong group of juniors, sophomores and freshmen. All are returning next year.

Athletes from Cherokee and Creekview will compete in the event this weekend at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.
A number of local high school athletes are set to vie for state titles in the Georgia High School Association's Traditional Wrestling State Championships, set for Thursday to Saturday. All wrestlers who competed in the sectionals for the two schools advanced to the state tournament, according to the Cherokee Tribune. Headed to the Arena at Gwinnett Center for eight rounds culminating in the finals, according to GHSA, are: WSB-TV is set to televise the finals Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. and on METV on Comcast 248 or Charter 127 from 6 to 7 p.m. GHSA.tv will live video stream all 14 weight class finals on each of the five, A to AAAAA, classifications' championship mats. Senior Joe Hulen was crowned regional champion in the 138-pound division.
Last weekend was an important event for wrestlers in regions around the state. Place in the top four in your weight class or go home. In 7-AAAA, six Creekview High Grizzlies advanced to sectionals, which will be held next weekend in Columbus, GA. At Sectionals, the top eight finishers move on to the state finals at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.

Creekview and 26 other wrestling teams competed in the Hardaway Invitational in Columbus on Friday and Saturday.
The 34th Hardaway Invitational was held on Friday and Saturday at Columbus State University. Three Creekview High Grizzlies were among the top finishers. Although Creekview had a number of individual wins, the competition was fierce and the team finished ninth place overall. Gilmer ran away with the tournament championship, defeating the nearest opponent by nearly 100 points. Today, the Grizzlies travel to Cedartown for the Bulldog Santa Slam.

After hundreds of bouts on Friday evening and all day Saturday, the Gilmer Bobcats pulled out well ahead of the pack to take the Creekview Invitational Tournament.
Fourteen schools attended the popular Creekview Invitational Tournament at Creekview High School this weekend. The Grizzlies, who placed second last year, dropped to sixth place this year. The team, missing graduating seniors and injured veterans, had a fair showing though with freshmen Nick McClendon (195 pounds) taking third place and Nate Bridges (113) taking fourth. Also placing were: Gilmer dominated the championship round with seven wrestlers and three tournament champions. Joseph Sorrentino (182) was determined to prevent a fourth champion and quickly defeated Gilmer's Jared Sweat (182) with a pin early in the second period. Creekview's junior varsity squad finished second to Gilmer, whose members won the JV round as well. Next …
