Merolla to Rebuild

The owner of a Sixes Road office building that was gutted in a March 5 fire said that the site will be cleared next week.

Nearly two months after a fire destroyed Vince Merolla Enterprises, the owner said he plans to clear the site next week and start rebuilding. Vince Merolla made that announcement during a Thursday press conference in front of the office building, according to a report in the Cherokee Tribune. Patch was not alerted to the conference, where Merolla said he had no concrete construction schedule. Early on the morning of March 5, Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services crews arrived at 3440 Sixes Rd. and found the complex 30 percent involved. "We had two separate collapses on the structure," Battalion Chief David Tilson said that morning.
