Service for the Norrell Family Today

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Norrell Family Monument Fund. Donations can be made at any Bank of North Georgia.

A funeral service for Ricky, Darlene and Lindsey Norrell, whose bodies were pulled from the rubble of a July 18 fire in Ball Ground, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church. Friday, as the family received visitors at Sosebee Funeral Home, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office revealed the GBI's findings. "Facts and circumstances of the deaths lead investigators to conclude that Ricky Norrell shot his wife Darlene and daughter Lindsey before taking his own life," Lt. Jay Baker, the spokesman for the sheriff's office, said in a press release. Investigators with the sheriff’s office and the fire department are still trying to piece together the cause of the blaze, which has not been determined. When firefighters arrived at the …

On Eve of Funeral, Ball Ground Learns 3 Were Murder-Suicide Victims

The service for the Norrell family is scheduled for Saturday.

As relatives received visitors today, authorities identified the three bodies pulled from the rubble of a Ball Ground home leveled by a fire last month, and announced all were victims of a murder-suicide. "Facts and circumstances of the deaths lead investigators to conclude that Ricky Norrell shot his wife Darlene and daughter Lindsey before taking his own life," Lt. Jay Baker, the spokesman for the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, said this afternoon in a press release. The medical examiner at the GBI crime lab found that 46-year-old Darlene and 19-year-old Lindsey Norrell were shot in the head, the victims of homicide. The death of 49-year-old Ricky Norrell was listed as a suicide.  "Ricky Norrell’s body was mostly consumed in the fire…

Authorities ID One of Three Bodies Pulled from Rubble of Ball Ground Fire

But it will "likely take weeks" before authorities can positively identify the other two bodies.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that one of the bodies pulled from the rubble of last week's fire in Ball Ground is that of 46-year-old Darlene Norrell. "Identification was made by dental records," said Lt. Jay Baker, the spokesman for the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. But it will "likely take weeks" before authorities can positively identify the other two bodies, he said. It is presumed that Norrell's husband and daughter, 49-year-old Ricky Norrell and 19-year-old Lindsey Norrell, also died in the fire at the family's home. No one has had contact with the family. "It appears likely that in fact it is them," Baker said last week. Neighbors called 911 after hearing an explosion at 818 Spriggs Trail at about 3:45 a.m. …

Owners of Burned Home Identified

But investigators "are unable to definitively conclude that the bodies" pulled from the rubble of a Ball Ground home are Ricky, Darlene and Lindsey Norrell.

No one has heard from Ricky, Darlene and Lindsey Norrell all day. And while a spokesman for the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office said that "it appears likely" that the three bodies pulled from the rubble of a fire at a Ball Ground home this morning are theirs, Lt. Jay Baker said investigators can't "definitively conclude that" at this time. "The bodies," Baker said, "have not been identified." According to Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services spokesman Tim Cavender, neighbors called 911 after hearing an explosion at 818 Spriggs Trail at about 3:45 a.m. The home belonged to 49-year-old Ricky Norrell and his 46-year-old wife Darlene, Baker said. They lived at the home with their 19-year-old daughter Lindsey. When Lt. Wesley Densmore …

After Fire, 3 Bodies Found

Neighbors heard what sounded like an explosion at a home off Yellow Creek Road.

Three bodies have been found in the rubble of a northeastern Cherokee County home leveled by an early morning fire, the spokesman for Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services said today. The individuals have not been identified, but spokesman Tim Cavender said neighbors called 911 after hearing an explosion at 818 Spriggs Trail at about 3:45 a.m. When Lt. Wesley Densmore and other firefighters arrived on the scene, the house was already on the ground, Cavender said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
