Gov. Nathan Deal recently announced a partnership with Google to provide free websites to small businesses throughout Georgia. Georgia Get Your Business Online aims to drive economic growth by giving business owners the tools to establish themselves online. “This new initiative will help grow small businesses in Georgia and provide business owners a valuable resource at no cost,” Deal said in a statement. “One of the best ways we can help our economy expand is to help Georgia businesses increase their visibility online.” For the next year, participating Georgia businesses can visit www.georgiagetonline.com and receive a free website as well as free online tools, training and resources. Get an early start on your Valentine's Day celebration while supporting downtown merchants. Canton's Valentine's Chocolate Walk begins at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Canton Theatre. At the theatre, walkers will receive a guide that shows each downtown business hosting a chocolate tasting. They will also receive a bag to carry all of their chocolates. "Don't worry about those calories," Canton Main Street Program director Ginger Garrard said. "You'll be walking them off." Tickets, which must be purchased in advance, cost $10. Trader joe's, Houstons, Cafe Intermezzo, Mimi's Cafe, Chipolte or a Pottery Barn, Gap or anything that would be new to Cherokee county. We need more upscale shops and restaraunts. In my opinion anything near Perimeter or North point mall that we do not have would be great!   more ›
