Community shows outpouring of support for his family through hundreds of Facebook posts.
Milton Eagles Coach and Canton resident Michael Scott lost his battle with pancreatic cancer late Saturday evening, Dec. 1, according to a post by his wife on the Prayers for Michael Scott Facebook page. More than 1,200 people have viewed Mary-Jane Scott's goodbye and prayer for her husband since Sunday morning, with more than 300 of them adding their comments on the Prayers for Michael Scott Facebook page created to for updates and community support. My sweet bear, my best friend, Mike, was called home to be with the Lord around 10:30pm tonight. Cherokee homecoming was dampened by Milton's win, but in the end Cherokee Warriors and their fans showed that winning is more than just a game.
Cherokee's homecoming (Canton, GA.) Friday night was a evening full of elegant gowns, tuxes and suits, a gift from Cherokee to Milton's Michael Scott Fund and a win by Milton 49-7. Milton opened the scoring with a touchdown pass in the first quarter and they continued scoring throughout the first half to lead at halftime 28-7. Junior Warrior Hunter Wingfield led the offense and scored on a 9 yard run for the only score of the night for Cherokee. Halftime was filled with Homecoming Ceremonies as Nick Ragsdale and Samantha Holloway were crowned king and queen of the homecoming court. Eight high school marching bands will compete on Saturday in the White Columns Invitational held at Milton High School. The seventh annual White Columns Invitational will include Centennial, Chattahoochee, Central Gwinnett, Creekview, Lambert, Alpharetta, Collins Hill and Walton, for what Milton High's director of bands, Ryan Borger, said will be an exciting event. In addition to the competing bands, there will be exhibitions from Milton High School and by Georgia Southern University’s Southern Pride Marching Band, featuring director Colin McKenzie. “It seems that our WCI event keeps getting better and better each year and with these outstanding bands combined with Georgia Southern performing, this year is could be the best yet,” said …

After starting off the season with a decisive victory against North Forsyth, Cherokee High lost to Milton High in its first home game of the season. The final score was 38-14.
