After Home Invasion, 2 Arrests

Dani Ahmad Hamde, 33, and Brandon Scott Merrell, 20, both of Canton, face charges of armed robbery.

Two Canton men have been arrested in connection with a home invasion at the Laurels at Greenwood Apartments. Canton Police Det. Candy Worthy said authorities responded early Thursday morning to an armed robbery at the complex, which is at 1215 Hickory Flat Hwy. Interviews with the victim and witnesses led authorities to Dani Ahmad Hamde, 33, and Brandon Scott Merrell, 20, both of Canton. Officers also have recovered the handgun used in the robbery, Worthy said. Both men, who face charges of armed robbery, are at the Cherokee County Detention Center without bond. Suspects in Holly Springs Home Invasion and Chase Arrested

At about 2 a.m., the suspects, who were armed, broke into a home in the 200 block of Amylou Circle, Holly Springs Police Lt. Tanya Anderson said. Inside the home were the homeowners, their brother-in-law, their son and his girlfriend.

Three suspects who allegedly broke into a Amylou Circle home, forced the family in the home to get on the floor, and eventually led local authorities on a brief chase, have been arrested. At about 2 a.m., three people broke into a home in the 200 block of Amylou Circle, Holly Springs Police Lt. Tanya Anderson said. Inside the home were the homeowners, their brother-in-law, their son and his girlfriend. The suspects, who were armed, robbed the homeowners and fled the scene as Holly Springs Police arrived, Anderson said. Video, Facebook Lead to 4 Arrests

The suspects, all of them from Canton, were wanted in connection with Monday's armed home invasion on Rampley Trail in Waleska.

Four people have been arrested in connection with Monday's armed home invasion on Rampley Trail in Waleska, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office said today. Store video released Wednesday showed four people leaving the Canton Walmart after using the victim's debit card just two hours after the incident. And it was that footage that led authorities to the suspects, said Lt. Jay Baker, spokesman for the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.  "Shortly after the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office released the video, detectives began to receive information on their Facebook page about the identities of those on the video," he said. Two hours after a woman said three armed black men robbed her Waleska home on Monday, the victim's debit card was used at the Canton Walmart.

Two hours after a woman said three armed black men robbed her Waleska home on Monday, the victim's debit card was used at the Canton Walmart. It was caught on tape, and the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office hopes that someone will recognize the suspects in the store video and contact local authorities. About 11 p.m. Monday, the victim told authorities that three men, armed with baseball bats and a handgun, entered her Rampley Trail home and demanded cash. Their faces were covered with bandanas.
