The informative and fun tour of historic buildings in Canton starts its second and final day at 10 a.m.
The tours of the private dwellings and businesses are part of the inaugural Historic Canton Holiday Tour of Homes.
The Cherokee County Historical Society will be bridging the past and the future as they bring visitors into local historic homes and buildings part of the initial Historic Canton Holiday Tour of Homes to be held on Dec. 14 and 15. The three homes that will be open for tours are the Spears-Eggleston home (built 1919), the Bell-Grant home (built c. 1900), and the Jones-Johnston home (built 1948). According to a press release from the Historical Society, the City of Canton was founded in 1832, but began to flourish only in 1879 when the railroad came to town, bringing new businesses and residents to the area.
