Cherokee Crossing Guard Struck By Car

The crossing guard is recovering from injuries at North Fulton Hospital.

A Cherokee County Sheriff's Office crossing guard is recovering from injuries she suffered after being hit by a car this morning. Michelle Hale, 42, was working in front of Hickory Flat Elementary School on East Cherokee Drive when she was hit by a minivan shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday, according to a press release from the sheriff's office.  Hale, who has been with the sheriff's office for 10 years, was transported to North Fulton Hospital where she is undergoing treatment for a leg injury. Her injuries are non life-threatening. The driver of the minivan, 18-year-old Alexander Hopkins of Canton, was cited for driving with an obstructed windshield and obedience to a traffic controller.
