Ryan Brunn, 20, is a maintenance worker at the River Ridge apartment complex, GBI Director Vernon Keenan says.

Two days after authorities discovered the severely beaten body of Canton Elementary first-grader Jorelys Rivera in a Dumpster, an arrest was made today, Cherokee County Sheriff Roger Garrison said. Good point, JT. Because of the severity of the crime, a lot of people have already convicted him before his day in court. As of right now, 2,630 like the "i hate Ryan Brunn" Facebook page. That's double the amount from last night.   more ›

In the wake of Jorelys Rivera's murder, Canton mommy blogger Brooke Bernard asks, "Is it better to smother our children with love, and hand holding, and never-going-anywhere-alone, to drill into them that scary people are real than to let them go?"

As authorities are aware child abductions/disappearances are on the rise. I have been wanting to voice my thoughts for a long time regarding this topic. When a child goes missing everyone in the community should IMMEDIATELY actively out searching, investigating and inquiring to find the missing child. Child abductions/missing persons should be everyones concern. KEEP THE CHILDREN SAFE AT ALL COST.   more ›

In River Ridge, Fear

The place they call home—the River Ridge apartment complex—is now a murder scene.

Jana McFry wants to move. Monday afternoon, authorities discovered the body of one of her neighbors, a 7-year-old girl, in one of the River Ridge apartment community's Dumpsters. Jorelys Rivera, a first-grader at Canton Elementary, had been severely beaten, sexually assaulted and murdered. "I don't really feel too safe," she said. "I hope we get out of here." But at least one woman told Canton-Sixes Patch that she plans to stay put. "This," Charolett Orr said, "could happen anywhere."
