UPDATE (1:40 p.m.): The Canton Police Department has released more information about the attempted kidnapping outside the First Baptist Church in Canton. According to a department release, an adult woman was walking on the sidewalk of Reservoir Drive near the church when a man exited the woodline near the sidewalk and approached her. The woman told authorities that the man threatened to abduct her, and was allegedly carrying a hand gun. The woman immediately crossed the street, flagged down a passing motorist, and called 911. Canton PD Obtains Arrest Warrants for Burglar

The public was instrumental in providing enough information for detectives to identify and secure arrest warrants for the suspect.

Due to the assistance of the public, the Canton Police Department has secured arrest warrants for the suspect in the recent string of burglaries in the Great Sky subdivision. Detectives have obtained arrest warrants for Paul Phillips, a 58-year-old white male who resides in Canton. Although Phillips is currently in the hospital, he will soon be arrested and charged with three counts of first degree burglary and one count of second degree burglary. According to the Canton Police Department, the first break in the case was made when investigators linked Phillips to a burglary at Antique Village Mall on Sunday. Canton Police Searching for Burglary Suspect

The suspect is believed to be behind a string of burglaries in the Great Sky neighborhood.

The Canton Police Department needs the assistance of the public to stop a burglar who has been targeting the Great Sky neighborhood. According to a department statement, the burglar struck several times in Great Sky between April 19 and April 22 and may have been spotted in Mountain View on May 3. Investigators believe the suspect may knock on the front and rear doors of the target house to make sure nobody is home before entering. The department has described the suspect as a older white male, 5-foot-8 to six feet tall, medium build, with short salt-and-pepper hair. He may be unshaven. Canton Police Searching for Graffiti Vandals

The vandalism was reported on Friday morning at the River Falls subdivision.

The Canton Police Department is asking for the public's help to identify three men suspected of vandalizing a neighborhood entrance sign with graffiti on Friday morning. At 2:13 a.m., a resident of the River Falls subdivision called 911 to report that three white males dressed in black were walking around the home. When officers responded to the residence, the witness saw the men fleeing into the woods on Magnolia Drive. Officers then discovered that the entrance sign to the River Falls subdivision had been vandalized with graffiti. During a search of the woods, police discovered a black and white Under Armor backpack which contained five cans of spray paint. However, officers did not locate the suspects. Canton Police Search for Hit-and-Run Vehicle

The incident occurred on the afternoon of April 13 at the intersection of Hickory Flat Highway and the Exit 16 ramps for Interstate 575.

The Canton Police Department is asking for the public's help in tracking down a vehicle which fled from the scene of an accident last month. According to a department press release, the vehicle of interest is a 2005 or newer black Nissan Pathfinder with tinted windows. The department says that the Pathfinder had, "major front end damage." The vehicle was last seen fleeing the area on Interstate 575 after being involved in an accident at roughly 3:55 p.m. on April 13 at the intersection of Hickory Flat Highway (Highway 140) and the Exit 16 ramps for 575. Both Sides React to Potential Bailey Settlement

Both Stacy Bailey's attorney and the City Attorney for Canton were pleased that a settlement was reached, but their agreements end there.

Pending approval from the Canton City Council on May 2, former Canton Police Department sergeant Stacy Bailey will receive $60,000 from the City of Canton to settle her lawsuit against the city for alleged violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act. If the council gives the final nod to authorize the settlement, Bailey will receive $30,000 in unpaid wages and $30,000 in damages. Stacy Bailey's Attorney Lance LoRusso said in a statement that his client was, "disappointed that she was not properly compensated for the many hours of overtime she worked, but she is glad that the defendants chose to resolve this lawsuit at this time."
