Meet the Candidate: Glen Cummins

Cummins has more than 30 years experience managing technology and administrative services departments for major corporations and for an agency of the U.S. government.

With the exception of Mayor Gene Hobgood, challengers have stepped up to unseat every Canton City Council member up for re-election. River Green resident Glen Cummins is one of them. Monday, he filed paperwork to challenge Ward III council member Amelia Rose, who has been in office since 1990. Cummins, 70, submitted background information to Canton-Sixes Patch today. Tuesday, two more people tossed their names in the ring for spots on the Canton City Council. One of them was Ward III council member Amelia Rose, who has been in office since 1990. Two More Candidates Qualify

Ward III council member Amelia Rose is seeking another term. The race for Ward II council member will be a three-way contest with the addition of accountant David Stoker.

Two more people have tossed their names in the ring for spots on the Canton City Council. Ward II council member Jack Goodwin will have to fend off challenges from not one, but two competitors. Joining Goodwin and Bill Grant today was accountant David Stoker. Stoker, 49, has lived in Cherokee County for 24 years. Meanwhile, Ward III council member Amelia Rose officially launched her re-election bid today, one day after Glen Cummins filed paperwork to unseat her. Rose, 64, has been in office since 1990. So far, seven people—three incumbents and four challengers—have jumped in the race for mayor and three open city council seats. Monday, Cummins, Goodwin, Grant, Hooky Huffman and Mayor Gene Hobgood all qualified to have their names placed on…
