Ball Ground Collision Injures 1

Mary Corridori was flown to Atlanta Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries after the 7 a.m. accident, said Lt. Jay Baker, the spokesman for the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office said.

A 58-year-old Ball Ground woman was injured early Friday after her convertible collided with a tractor trailer on East Cherokee Drive near Creekside Way, authorities said. Mary Corridori was flown to Atlanta Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries after the 7 a.m. accident, said Lt. Jay Baker, the spokesman for the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office said. "It appears Corridori's vehicle crossed the center line while she was negotiating a curve before colliding with the tractor trailer," which was traveling in the opposite direction, he said. Woman Struck by Own Vehicle Dies

Mary Cantrell was taken off life support this afternoon.

Mary Cantrell, the 69-year-old woman who was flown to Grady Hospital in Atlanta after she was struck by her own vehicle on Wednesday, has died. "The victim was taken off life support and was pronounced as dead at 3 p.m.," Det. Candy Worthy of the Canton Police Department said in an email this afternoon. "Her injuries were consistent with generalized massive trauma to the head and body. Our prayers are with her family." At about 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, Cantrell's Jeep Liberty "had some issue with the emergency brake," Worthy said in an earlier email to Canton-Sixes Patch. Police ID Woman Struck in Great Sky

Mary Cantrell remains in critical condition at Grady Hospital.

Authorities have identified the woman who was flown to Grady Hospital in Atlanta after she was struck by her own vehicle. Mary Cantrell, 69, was injured at about 2:20 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of Towering Peaks, which is in Canton's Great Sky subdivision, Det. Candy Worthy of the Canton Police Department said this afternoon. Cantrell's Jeep Liberty "had some issue with the emergency brake not turning off when she was trying to turn it off," Worthy said in an email to Canton-Sixes Patch. "The vehicle later rolled down her driveway and struck her causing her injuries." Elderly Woman Struck in Great Sky

The woman, who appeared to be in her late 60s, has been flown to Grady Hospital in Atlanta with severe head trauma.

A woman who appears to be in her late 60s was flown to Grady Hospital in Atlanta after a SUV struck her today in Canton's Great Sky subdivision. Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services spokesman Tim Cavender said the agency, along with the Canton Fire Department, found the woman in the middle of 215 Towering Peaks. "She had apparently been struck by a Jeep Liberty SUV," he said. The woman, who has severe head trauma, is listed in critical condition, Cavender said. Troopers suspect the woman who was flown to Atlanta Medical Center on Tuesday with abdominal pain and other injuries after a single vehicle accident in Canton might have had drugs in her system, a spokesman with the Georgia State Patrol said today. Shortly after 9 a.m. Tuesday, Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services found a truck near the intersection of Sam Nelson Road and Highway 108, and a woman trapped inside. Today, Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright identified that woman as 26-year-old Sylvia Sheffield Holloway. Previously, Cherokee Fire spokesman Tim Cavender said the woman was 27 years old. Woman, 27, Trapped, Flown to Hospital After Morning Accident in Canton

"Apparently, a Chevy S-10 pickup truck left the highway, went down an embankment and struck some trees," fire spokesman Tim Cavender said.

An unidentified 27-year-old woman was flown to Atlanta Medical Center this morning with abdominal pain and other injuries after a single vehicle accident in Canton. Shortly after 9 a.m., Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services found a truck near the intersection of Sam Nelson Road and Highway 108 and the woman trapped inside. "Apparently, a Chevy S-10 pickup truck left the highway, went down an embankment and struck some trees," fire spokesman Tim Cavender said. Though the woman had to be removed from the vehicle and suffered injuries to her left arm and leg from the vehicle, her condition was stable at last check, Cavender said. Accident Near Laurel Canyon

Three were taken to Northside Hospital-Cherokee.

Three people have been taken to Northside Hospital-Cherokee with minor injuries after a three-vehicle accident on Highway 140 near Laurel Canyon. Just before 4:30 p.m. today, Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services received word of an accident involving a Ford pickup truck driven by a 51-year-old man, a Scion driven by a 16-year-old boy and a GMC Sierra driven by a 43-year-old man, spokesman Tim Cavender said. "The wreck looked bad," he said. "Nothing major, really." Still, three were taken Northside, Cavender said, "just to be checked out."

Man, 47, Taken to Kennestone

His car went down an embankment on Old Highway 5 in South Canton this afternoon.

An unidentified 47-year-old man was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital after an accident this afternoon in Canton. Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services spokesman Tim Cavender said crews responded to an accident at about 1:45 p.m. on Old Highway 5 in South Canton, not to far from Univeter Road.  "When emergency service personnel arrived on scene, they found a silver KIA Optima had left the highway, gone down a 30 foot embankment, and struck some trees," Cavender said in a statement. "The driver of the vehicle ... had to be extricated." The man's injuries don't appear to be life threatening, he said. The Canton Police Department is investigating the cause of the accident. Orphaned Baby's Dad Had Blood Alcohol Level 3X the Legal Limit

The 2-month-old boy was injured in a Feb. 5 wreck that killed his parents and shut down Knox Bridge Highway, just west of Fields Landing Drive.

The father of the orphaned baby in a Feb. 5 fatal wreck on Knox Bridge Highway had a blood alcohol level "slightly less than three times the legal limit in Georgia," the spokesman for the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office said today. Rick Dean Headen's blood alcohol level was .218, Lt. Jay Baker said. The legal limit in Georgia is .08. Headen, 48, was driving eastbound along Knox Bridge Highway on Feb. 5 with his 2-month-old son and the child's mother in tow. The Sour Lake, TX, residents were "apparently just passing through, on their way to another state" when the gold Ford Focus that Headen was driving crossed the center line and struck a red Dodge pickup truck headed westbound, Baker said on the day of the accident.  The head-on …

Alcohol Found in Orphaned Baby's Car

The boy's aunt is on the way from Virginia.

Alcohol was found in the crumpled Ford Focus driven by the dad of a now orphaned 2-month-old baby, the spokesman for the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office told Canton-Sixes Patch this afternoon. "The driver's blood was taken and submitted to the Georgia Crime Lab," Lt. Jay Baker said. "It will likely be weeks or months before we get the results back. It's impossible to know for sure if he was drinking earlier in the day, but there was alcohol located in the vehicle." That revelation came to light just hours after Baker announced that the unidentified baby, who suffered a "traumatic" brain injury as well as a broken leg, was "doing better."
