One volunteer is assigned to one child, and that volunteer represents the child throughout court proceedings and foster care placement. This is done to make sure the needs of the child are being met and that the child is always safe. The organization also advocates for the permanent placement of children in safe, loving homes.

The park includes a separate area for small  dogs, benches, agility equipment and drinking water. Though financially supported by the City and community, Canton Paw Park also raises money for additional improvements, items and maintenance. The dog park is also currently looking for volunteers. Students are eligible to receive community service credit for volunteer efforts.
