Obituary: Justin David Dixon

Dixon's family will receive friends at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors on Friday evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Milton High School graduate, Justin David Dixon, 31, of Canton, died May 13. Born in Miami to David Lee and Pierrette Gingras Dixon, he was also a graduate of  the Atlanta Culinary Art Institute. A U.S. Army veteran, he served two tours in Iraq. Along with his parents, he is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Michelle and Matthew Haney and their children, Conner and Brennen, asa well as his grandmother, Willa Davenport. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 18 at 11 a.m. at Christ the Shepherd Lutheran Church. Funeral on Sunday For Canton Teen Who Drowned in Hickory Log Creek Reservoir

Jon Bettis will be laid to rest on Sunday at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery in Canton.

The teenager who drowned earlier this week while swimming in the Hickory Log Creek Reservoir will be laid to rest on Sunday. Funeral services for Jon Thomas Bettis, 17, will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at the South Canton Funeral Home Chapel. Bettis will be buried at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery following the services. The family will continue to receive friends and condolences today between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. at South Canton.  Bettis drowned on Wednesday while swimming in the Hickory Log Creek Reservoir in Canton, which opened to the public in March. Bettis' autopsy will be conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Medical Examiner's Office. Luca Garovi, Swiss Native, Dreamed of U.S. Citizenship

Garovi was working for the Swiss government in Atlanta and was pursuing a degree in Homeland Security when he was killed in a car accident Sunday in Cherokee County.

The best way to sum up the life of Luca Garovi is a story his "adopted mother" Kelley Mure tells about her daughter Rachel's wedding. Once Luca found out the wedding was to be held the day before his mother's 70th birthday in Switzerland, he hopped on a plane from Phoenix to his birth country to be with his mother on her special day, then took the next flight back to Arizona to be a groomsman at his "sister's" wedding. If you asked Luca, he had family in Switzerland and family in America.  "He told everyone he had six brothers and five sisters. Slain Canton Resident's Sister: Family is Struggling

Zachary Rose's family is holding visitation in Canton today, and the funeral Saturday afternoon, but they need help to pay the costs.

The family of Zachary Allen Rose, a victim in a shooting in Alpharetta on Monday, Jan. 28, is struggling to cope with his death, and to find funds to pay for his funeral. "We just celebrated his birthday, he just turned 22," said his sister, Audrey Greene, as she worked on creating a video of her brother to be shown at the funeral home. "He had a lot of friends," she said. Zachary was visiting one of his friends, a former coworker, in Alpharetta when he was shot. His sister just found out that the suspect being sought by Alpharetta police was previously accused of a similar crime. He's left behind his family and those friends. Funeral for Jemail Jones on Tuesday

He was killed Tuesday in a crash on Bells Ferry and Butterworth roads.

Funeral arrangements for Jemail Raymont Jones, the 29-year-old Canton man who was killed Tuesday in a head-on collision that injured four others, have been announced. A wake will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Sosebee Funeral Home. The funeral will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Cherokee Memorial Park. Jones was behind the wheel of a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix that traveled northbound on Bells Ferry Road "at a high rate of speed, crossed into the southbound lane and struck a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado head-on," Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright said. Service for the Norrell Family Today

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Norrell Family Monument Fund. Donations can be made at any Bank of North Georgia.

A funeral service for Ricky, Darlene and Lindsey Norrell, whose bodies were pulled from the rubble of a July 18 fire in Ball Ground, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church. Friday, as the family received visitors at Sosebee Funeral Home, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office revealed the GBI's findings. "Facts and circumstances of the deaths lead investigators to conclude that Ricky Norrell shot his wife Darlene and daughter Lindsey before taking his own life," Lt. Jay Baker, the spokesman for the sheriff's office, said in a press release.
