Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Thank you to everyone who helped our campaign in any way, especially to those who voted for me.  This team effort would not be successful without you.  We need your help again for the runoff election on Tuesday, December 3rd.

If Elected, I will:

·         Promote sustainable growth by attracting specialty retail businesses, industry and encouraging investment in all areas of the city so more citizens can live and work here.

·         Setting up a “One-Stop-Shop” at the Economic Development Directors’ office where a complete package can be given to prospective new businesses so they are not running from department to department, and receiving contradictory information from different departments.

·         Keep the Canton Fire Department in Canton and work with the county to maximize services.

·         Work to restore the Senior Trash Tax Exemption.

·         Develop a comprehensive inventory and maintenance plan for all city infrastructure.

·         Work with City staff to evaluate and develop strategies to deal with any issues that face the city, and work with citizens to facilitate their participation and input.

·         The City must continue to live within its budget and pay down its debt without raising the current millage rate. It should be conservative with the funds entrusted to its care.

·         I believe that an elected official first and foremost serves as a representative of their constituents and should be respectful of their wishes when conducting the city’s business.

The decision on who should get your vote is not an easy task.  Many challenges and issues face our city.  However, like most of you, I recognize that Canton offers something special.  I have lived in Canton and Cherokee County for 35 years, and have owned and operated my own businesses in downtown Canton, Yawn’s Books & More, Inc., for nine years and Yawn’s Publishing for five years.  My wife Stacy Westbrook Yawn was born in Canton and has lived here all of her life. We both graduated from Cherokee High School and I received my accounting degree from Kennesaw College.  Stacy is a teacher in the Cherokee County School District.

I believe this gives me a unique perspective and uniquely qualifies me to be the best choice to serve as your councilman.  I personally have a huge stake in Canton being the best it can be.  I am asking for your vote and support.

I pledge to listen to the voters, serve with utmost integrity, and spend your tax dollars wisely.

Please make your vote a priority!  A very low voter turnout is expected so your vote is even more important in a runoff election.  I humbly ask for your support and your vote on December 3rd.

Sincerely,

Farris Yawn
