Putt-Put at Farmer's Market, Career Fair in Canton This Week

Here's what's happening around town in the week ahead.

Remember, today is Labor Day, a federal holiday. Most government offices are closed, and school is not in session. 

1. Lace up your running shoes 
for the Hickory FlatOUT 5K at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Canton at 7:30 a.m. Monday. This race is a certified Peachtree qualifier and will be chip timed. Race shirts will be available on a first come-first served basis if you're registering today.

2. Bring your putt-putt skills to Tuesday's River Church Farmer's Market in Canton, where a "putt for produce" competition will be held. Participants with an exceptional long game can also play "croquet for crops!" Your tee time is 2 p.m.

3. Update your resume for the Dominium Career Fair, which will be held at Canterbury Ridge in Canton on Wednesday at 4 p.m.. The property management company is looking to hire managers, assistant managers, leasing consultants, and maintenance staff. You will get pre-screened to find the best job opportunity for your skill set!

4. Stock up for winter at the Marietta First United Methodist Church's semi-annual consignment sale on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Although there is a $5 early shopping fee for Thursday, you will have first pick at great winter clothes and supplies for baby. Alternately, you can browse the sale for free on Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

5. Appreciate fine art at the opening reception for the new "Crosscut" visual arts exhibition at the Cherokee Arts on Friday at 6:30 p.m. The exhibition, which runs until Sept. 27, features local and national artists who show off their work in mediums such as photography, pen-and-ink drawings, and computer graphics.
