Basketball Tryouts, 9/11 Remembrance in Canton This Week

Here are five things you won't want to miss out on in Canton this week.

1. Ball so hard at the North Georgia Irish Basketball Program is hosting tryouts for its winter teams at the River Church Gym throughout the week. There is a $10 flat fee per player trying out. The schedule is as follows:

  • 3rd/4th Grade Teams: September 9th – 6:30 – 8:30PM 
  • 5th Grade: September 10 – 6:30 -8:30PM 
  • 6th Grade: September 12 – 6:30 – 8:30PM 
  • 7th Grade: (Last week of September – TBD)

2. Speak your mind at the Cherokee County Teen Republicans general meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Pizza Hut on Marietta Highway in Canton. The guest speaker is Melvin Everson, state advisor of Georgia Teen Republicans.

3. Get the facts about healthcare reform at Rose Creek Public Library on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 6:30 p.m. Information presented at the seminar will include what has changed in healthcare and how people can get help paying for their insurance and healthcare. 4. Remember our heroes on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 8:30 a.m. at the public safety memorial in downtown Canton. The keynote speaker for the remembrance will be Maj. Gen. Jim Butterworth Adjutant General of the Georgia National Guard.

5. Hear new tunes at JUMP KITCHEN in Woodstock on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. during Original Singer/Songwriter Night. If you'd like to get up on stage and perform your latest creations, please contact jumpshowcase@gmail.com. There is a $100 cash prize for the performer with the most audience votes.
