Free Box Fans for Cherokee Seniors

3. Mark your calendars for 6 p.m. Wednesday for Canton's annual Independence Day Parade. The parade, which is typically held in downtown Canton, will take place in Riverstone this year because of ongoing construction in the area. Also, there will be no doggie parade and costume contest this year. Parade participants are asked to line up behind  at 5 p.m. The fireworks show, which will include musical performances, will run from 7 to 9 p.m.

4. Free box fans are available to local seniors who don't have air conditioning or can't afford it thanks to the Cherokee Volunteer Aging Council. If you know a senior who needs one, contact at 770-345-2675. There's a one fan per person limit. Delivery is available on a limited basis for seniors who can't pick up fans.
