Habitat for Humanity Gives Canton Woman New Home

The mother of two has been a long-time resident of the county.

A Canton mother of two has a home to call her own thanks to the generosity of several local businesses and organizations and the Habitat for Humanity ministry.

Renee Underwood and her two children, one-year-old David and three-year-old Dalilah, are the occupants of a new home on Price Road in Canton, which was built by Habitat starting in May.

Habitat was able to build the Underwoods a new home through the help of several local organizations and businesses that donated time, materials, and money to the project.

These contributors included Schoen Insulation Services, Hillside United Methodist Church, Lowe’s, Saint Clement’s Episcopal Church, Mount Zion United Methodist Church, North Georgia United Methodist Housing and Homeless Council and Scott C. Dozier of Merrill Lynch.

Underwood has been working at a local drug store for six years, and has been a long time resident of Cherokee County. At the recent dedication ceremony for her now home, she expressed gratitude for the work of these volunteers on her behalf.

“I am profoundly thankful to everyone who helped to build my family’s home,” she said.
