3. Mark your calendars for 6 p.m. tonight for Canton's annual Fourth of July Parade. The parade, which is typically held in downtown Canton, will take place in Riverstone this year because of ongoing construction in the area. Also, there will be no doggie parade and costume contest this year. Parade participants are asked to line up behind at 5 p.m. The fireworks show, which will include musical performances, will run from 7 to 9 p.m.

5. Elsewhere in Cherokee, Woodstock will kick off its Independence Day celebration at 7:30 a.m. with the Freedom Run 5K, 1-mile fun run and tot trot. A parade will follow at 10 a.m. and food will be available until 3 p.m. at The Park at City Center.
