Weekend Pigskin Roundup: Cherokee Loses Defensive Battle

Each Monday we'll take a look at what happened on the gridiron over the weekend in Canton-Sixes Patch.

Woodstock 7, Cherokee 0 – Friday’s game was a defensive struggle for both teams in their first taste of Region 5-AAAAA play. On defense, was blitz-happy and did well containing the ball carrier. On offense, the Warriors moved the ball well, except for inside the red zone.

"It's a hard pill to swallow in a situation where we're playing against a rival," said Cherokee head coach Brian Dameron. "I thought what we were able to do was move the ball between the 20s, but when we got down inside the 10, there we made too many critical mistakes." ()

Johns Creek 41, Creekview 14 – Mistakes and penalties plagued on Friday in the Grizzlies second-straight loss by 20 points or more, and fourth-straight overall. Three of those losses came to the top three teams in Region 7-AAAA, meaning the schedule must get easier as Creekview moves forward. ()
