Walton Wins Over Cherokee

Cherokee tries to spoil Waltons Homecoming night, but comes up short.

Under the lights in Raider Valley produced a foggy night and a Walton victory over Cherokee 21 to 7.

Walton took the opening drive friday night and scored first when Raider Quarterback Parker McLeod (#12) threw a TD pass to Henry Rowling (#30).  The Raiders added another score in the second quarter when the higly touted Running Back Tyren Jones (#1) ran one in to make it 14-0.  Cherokee Warriors drove the ball well in the second quarter themselves, threatening to score just before halftime until a fumble on the Walton 3 yard line spoiled the drive.

After the halftime Homecoming activities the Warriors came out in the second half and picked up the pace offensively. Cherokee pushed Walton back on several drives and finally scored on a beautiful pass from Sophmore Quarterback Spencer Ashley (#4)  to Junior Hunter Wingfield (#1).
