Grizzlies Fall To East Paulding In 34-33 Heartbreaker

On a cold, rainy Friday night, the Grizzlies just could not get started early enough to keep up with the high scoring Raiders.

The defense was working hard to keep East Paulding off the board and did so until about halfway through the second quarter when a Raiders field goal made it 3-0.

Creekview would answer shortly thereafter with an Isaiah Rodgers touchdown from inside the 5 yard line to go ahead 6-3. Uncharacteristically, kicker Ben McClellan (89) missed the extra point to keep the score 6-3.

East Paulding finished up the scoring of the first half with a rushing TD to take the teams to halftime 10-6.

In the 3rd quarter, the Grizzlies continued to struggle offensively.  The raiders drove inside the 10 and picked up another field goal to increase their lead to 13-6.

Two more East Paulding touchdowns put Creekview down 27-6.

A big Isaiah Rodgers run to the 5 would set up the Kyle Wilkie (10) keeper to close the gap, combined with the Ben McClellan extra point to make it 27-13.

Isaiah Rodgers scored again to put 6 more on the board, but Ben McClellan would fail to get the extra point for the second time of the evening.  The raiders would immediately answer back to go ahead 34-19.

Kyle Wilkie completed a bomb to Dawson Ewers (4) to set up a Kyle Wilkie Connor Dulmage (5) pass from inside the 5 to put 6 more on the board.  The 2 point conversion was unsuccessful.  It was now 34-25 Raiders.

The final points of the game would come from a Kyle Wilkie strike to Chandler Wold (18).  Wilkie would connect with Connor Dulmage again for the two point conversion to make it 34-33.

Try as they might, Creekview would run out of opportunity and time as the Raiders took a knee and let the final seconds run out the clock and with it, the Grizzlies chances of advancing to the next round of the playoffs.

After the game, Head Coach Terry Crowder talked to his team about how proud he was of how far they had come this season (8-2 regular season) and how proud he was that they never quit and rallied in the 4th quarter to try to take the game back from the Raiders.  Many of the starters will return next year and hopefully take things even further into the post season.
