Grizzlies Defeat Bears 27-24

The Creekview Grizzlies traveled to Cambridge Friday night and picked up another close victory.

The game started out on a sour note with a Bears 99 yard return for a touchdown to go down 0-7.

It would take until the second quarter for Creekview to answer with a Kyle Wilkie (10) TD pass to Dawson Ewers (4).  Cambridge would then fumble deep in their own territory (recovered by Chris Reddick #7).  Another Kyle Wilkie pass from just outside the 20 yard line would find Chandler Wold (18) for the TD.  The Grizzlies would go up 14-7 in the second quarter.

Cambridge scored with 6 minutes left in the half, after a Creekview interception was called back due to a penalty.  It was now 14-14.

Connor Dulmage (5) was next with a TD on a 20+ yard pass to make it 21-14 with 3:43 left in the half.  The third Ben McClellan extra point of the night was good.  Creekview would come up with a big stop on a long possession to keep the score 21-14 at the half.

Cambridge scored next on a bomb from mid field with a minute and a half left in the 3rd quarter.  After possession changes for both teams, Kicker Ben McClellan (89) booted in in a 35 yard field goal to go up 24-21 with 6:58 remaining.

With a minute and a half left in the game, the Bears drove the ball down the field, but had to settle for a field goal to tie things up 24-24.

The Grizzlies ended up on about the 20 yard line of Cambridge with 6.5 seconds left in the game.  Kicker Ben McClellan easily sailed the winning field goal through the uprights to give Creekview the 27-24 victory.

The Grizzlies have had to adjust to new coaches and a new system, but at 5-2 for the season, what Head Coach Terry Crowder is doing, must be working.  The victories are not always by a large margin, but this team never quits and always finds a way to win.
