Creekview Wrestling Takes 4th At The Hardaway Invitational

Columbus Georgia

The Grizzlies traveled to Columbus on Friday for a two day tournament with 22 teams from Georgia and Alabama competing for the top spot.  Creekview, who placed 2nd last year, was missing 3 wrestlers from their lineup.  Even with that handicap, they placed a respectable 4th as a team.

The individual tournament champions from Creekview were Hunter Smith (170lbs) and Joseph Sorrentino (182lbs).  With the exception of a close 3-2 decision in one match, Smith easily went through the bracket.  He finished with a 12-3 major decision in the final against Sampson of Spencer. Sorrentino pinned Rivers of Carver and all 3 of his other opponents to defend his Hardaway Championship from last year.

There is much to look forward to as the season progresses.  Freshman Bryce Davis (106lbs) had been perfect on the season until this weekend, but still came out with a 3rd place over Kauffman of Smith's Station in a bracket loaded with talent.

2013 State placer (6th) Grant Slater (120lbs), took second to 2013 State champion Salemi of Cambridge.

Many other Grizzlies placed and contributed to the team victory

Coda Stewart 152lbs placed 6th against Gooden of Smiths Station in an 11-14 decision

Christian Saragusa 220lbs placed 3rd with a 5-2 decision over Rojas of McIntosh

Cameron Kyle 285lbs placed 5th with a 3-0 decision over Phillips of Lee County
