Creekview Wrestling Has 4 New Region Champions

The cold weather and snow could not stop the Grizzlies from achieving a program best 4 Region 7AAAAA Champions last weekend at Kell High School.

Bryce Davis (106lbs), dominated both his semi-final (19-4 Tech Fall) and his final with a 14-2 major decision over Alex Labarre of Sprayberry for a 3-0 finish.

Justin Goss (132lbs), started out with a pin in the second period and then defeated Chris Anderson of Cambridge in the semi finals by decision 9-2 to advance to the final.  Tyler Haskin of Pope was unable to wrestle due to injury.  Goss took the top spot on the podium.

Hunter Smith (170lbs), easily pulled out front with a pair of pins to get set for the final.  Smith would finish things up with a comfortable 10-3 decision in the final.

Joseph Sorrentino (182lbs) had first period pins to carry him to the final with Keewan Williams of Northview.  It would take only another 1:13 for Sorrentino to get the fall and Region title.

Creekview was not done yet, though.  A total of 11 Grizzlies would place top 4 and advance to next week's Sectional tournament to try to qualify for State Traditionals at Gwinnett Arena.  In addition to the Region Champs, 7 more will advance.

Brock Tupman (285) - 2nd Place
Grant Slater (120) - 3rd Place
Coda Stewart (152) - 3rd Place
Ryan Camp (126) - 4th Place
Kyle Merinda (145) - 4th Place
Logan Ridings (195) - 4th Place

The Section tournament starts tomorrow at Cambridge high School.
