Grizzlies Bring Home 3 Medals

Creekview and 26 other wrestling teams competed in the Hardaway Invitational in Columbus on Friday and Saturday.

The 34th Hardaway Invitational was held on Friday and Saturday at Columbus State University.

Three were among the top finishers.

  • Nic McLendon (18-6) battled Tyler DeNova (16-0) of Harris County in a hard fought bout that ended up in a 6-4 decision for DeNova. McLendon was the team's top performer with a second place finish.
  • Joseph Sorrentino (19-1 record) placed third in the 182-pound class. After defeating three of his four opponents, Sorrentino accepted a forfeit from Gilmer's Ben De Loach (18-5) due to a shoulder injury.
  • Hunter Udall (14-8) placed fifth overall in the 170-pound weight class with a second period pin against Ian Grimsley of Lee County.  

Although had a number of individual wins, the competition was fierce and the team finished ninth place overall. Gilmer ran away with the tournament championship, defeating the nearest opponent by nearly 100 points.

Today, the Grizzlies travel to Cedartown for the Bulldog Santa Slam.
