Last Saturday was a good test for this week's upcoming Region Duals.  The Grizzlies performed well even with a few areas in the lineup that could use improvement.

Creekview started with a 73-5 pounding over Dacula.  Davis (113lbs), Slater (120), Goss (126), Merenda (145), Stewart (152), Coleburn (160), Sorrentino (182), O'Donnell (195), Saragusa (220) and Tupman (285) all finished with pins.  McHugh (138) and Smith (170) also had wins.

Commerce would take the second round with a 39-19 win over the Grizzlies.  This was a hard fought battle.  Though the score might not reflect it, if not for some of the Grizzly veterans, it could have been an even greater margin of victory for Commerce. They would eventually make it to the finals and defeat Social Circle.

Newton would fall to Creekview in the next round 63-12.

In the Rockdale match, the Grizzlies went down 15-0 in the first three bouts.  Coda Stewart (152) would start the charge with a pin over Dante Lawhorne in the third period to make it 15-6.  The next 9 of 11 bouts would go to the Grizzlies to finish up at 49-24.

The final match was against Holy Innocents, a tough school that Creekview faced early in the season.  Although Holy Innocents kept it close in the early bouts, Creekview pulled away in the second half of the match with pins by Saragusa (220), Tupman (285), Ross (106), Davis (113) and Slater (120) to take third place with a 37-24 victory.

Notable performances of the tournament:

Grant Slater (120) 5-0 with 2 pins

Joseph Sorrentino (182) 5-0 with 3 pins

Christian Saragusa (220) 5-0 with 3 pins

Brock Tupman (285) 4-1 with 3 pins

Brody Ross (106) 4-1 with 2 pins

Bryce Davis (113) 4-1 with 2 pins

Creekview travels to Pope High School tomorrow and Saturday for Region Duals
