Creekview Grizzlies Advance 9 Wrestlers To State

Sectionals in Loganville Georgia produced Creekview's largest crop of State finalists in Grizzly history

Just like last week at Regionals, you have to win and place, or go home.  Only the top 8 from each weight class in the East would advance to meet the top 8 in the West.  The GHSA State Tournament is in Macon, Georgia on February 14th, 15th, and 16th.

The Grizzlies took 12 wrestlers out of a possible 14 to Loganville and came out with a record 9 Georgia State qualifiers.  Ryan Camp (106 lbs), Grant Slater (113), Justin Goss (120), Justin Pettyjohn (152), Hunter Smith (160), Hunter Udall (170), Joseph Sorrentino (182), Logan Ridings (195) and Brock Tupman (285).

Creekview started out strong on the first day with 11 out of 12 still in it and 5 qualified for the semi finals.  Day two started out strong for the Grizzlies with three quick wins from the lightweights at 106, 113 and 120.

Former State placer and favorite for a top 5 finish this year, Michael Edwards was unable to overcome a recent high ankle sprain and did not qualify.

Austin Collett (145) and Christian Saragusa (220) fell just one win short of a ticket to Macon.
