The board during its meeting on Thursday, which starts at 7 p.m., will consider appointing a person to serve in the interim.
The candidates are:
- Kyla Cromer, vice president of the Cherokee County Council of PTA
- James "Jim" Nicholson, a retired educator
- William Wuth, a former private school administrator
State law calls for the board to hold a special election to fill vacancies when more than a year of a board member's term remains. Marlow's term expires on Dec. 31, 2016.
The person appointed will serve until a candidate is elected in a special election set for Nov. 4.
