William "Billy" Hasty, Jr., Reinhardt Board of Trustees chairman, recently hosted and welcomed Reinhardt University coaching and athletics staff at his home for a special dinner to thank them for their dedication and commitment to the University and its student-athletes.

Also in attendance were board members, spouses of the athletics staff and Reinhardt administration.

The evening commenced with sentiments about the staff and highlights of the year.

“You may have many wins; you may have many losses, but that’s not what it’s all about,” said Reinhardt President Dr. J. Thomas Isherwood. “What you do is teach young people about life—about being a good winner and being a good loser in any
situation. Athletics is a small part of what you teach, and we are grateful for what you do.”

Board of Trustee members also added their sentiments and recognized the hard work and dedication the coaching staff provide to student-athletes on and off the field.

“I think sometimes we don’t always realize the significant impact our athletics has on the University,” said Ken White.

“To see the changes taking place here has been incredible,” added John Bennett.

“We are proud of our coaching staff; thumbs up,” Cecil Pruett said.

“There are many ways to coach,” noted Gin Miller. “You are enriching and changing their lives.”

A few highlights for Reinhardt athletics this year include: Mid South-East regular season champions for football; Appalachian Athletic Conference champions for softball and soccer; three NAIA Tournament trips; tournament champions in the MLLA and NWLL for men’s and women’s lacrosse, respectively; and four coaches honored as Coach of the Year for their respective sports.

“We are family; we work well together,” said Bill Popp, director of athletics. “Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years.”
