New Creekview Football Coach Starts Work Next Week

Former Chattahoochee High School coach Terry Crowder will be the new Grizzlies head coach in 2013.

Terry Crowder, who led Johns Creek's Chattahoochee High School to the state football championship in 2010, has been hired as Creekview High School's next head coach.

The Cherokee County School Board unanimously approved Crowder's hiring at their meeting last Thursday. Crowder will begin work at Creekview on Feb. 20.

“Coach Crowder brings a great deal of experience to a great football program,” Creekview Principal Dr. Adrian Thomason said in a Cherokee County School District news release. “After speaking with [Chattahoochee Principal Tim Duncan], I am convinced that Coach Crowder will be an excellent role model and will lead our students by example.”

Crowder will have some large shoes to fill on the Grizzlies sidelines. He is replacing Al Morrell, who was the only coach the Creekview program had known in its eight-year history. Morrell retired at the end of the 2012 campaign, after leading his squad to a 9-2 overall record and a first-round playoff exit.

Since Crowder was hired to coach at Chattahoochee in 2004, he led the Cougars to the state playoffs five times, the region championship twice, and the 2010 state title. In addition, Crowder has earned AJC Coach of the Year, Atlanta Touchdown Club Coach of the Year and Georgia Athletic Coaches Association State Coach of the Year honors.

Crowder has compiled a 178-69 coaching record since he was first hired as a coach in 1992.
