More than 1,300 students took advantage of the Cherokee County School District's summer school opportunities during June for academic remediation, high school credit recovery, or to take additional high school classes.

More than 1,300 students took advantage of the Cherokee County School District's summer school opportunities during June for academic remediation, high school credit recovery, or to take additional high school classes.
About 200 elementary and middle school students attended Title I program sessions held at two campuses, one centrally located at Canton Elementary School STEM Academy and another at Oak Grove Elementary School Fine Arts Academy in the south end of the county.
About 100 students attended special education programs at Canton Elementary, and just over 200 rising ninth-graders participated in "bridge" programs at their high schools for core subject remediation before the start of freshman year.
More than 300 high school students took advantage of credit recovery opportunities in June to retake classes they had not passed during the school year. Another 450 high school students took classes at the Woodstock and Cherokee high school campuses for initial credit.
High school students who completed diploma requirements during the summer session, as well as Polaris Evening Program students, graduated on Friday at Woodstock High School.
