Milton Eagles Top Cherokee Warriors, 49-7

Cherokee homecoming was dampened by Milton's win, but in the end Cherokee Warriors and their fans showed that winning is more than just a game.

Cherokee's homecoming (Canton, GA.) Friday night was a evening full of elegant gowns, tuxes and suits, a gift from Cherokee to Milton's Michael Scott Fund and a win by Milton 49-7.

Milton opened the scoring with a touchdown pass in the first quarter and they continued scoring throughout the first half to lead at halftime 28-7. Β

Junior Warrior Hunter Wingfield led the offense and scored on a 9 yard run for the only score of the night for Cherokee.

Milton continued the scoring and increased the lead to 35 in the third with a couple scores, led by the running of Peyton Barber (#25).

After the game and post game prayer with both teams, Cherokee Head Coach Josh Shaw along with Cherokee Principal Debra Murdock presented Milton with a donation of $8,750 to assist with covering medical expenses for Milton's Coach Michael Scott.Β  The father of two is fighting stage IV pancreatic cancer.

The Scott family is trying to raise funds to help cover medical expenses at this difficult time. If you would like to donate, visit www.giveforward.com/miracleformike

It was the period that ended the evening with two teams standing together in support of this coach and his family that transcended homecoming and the game itself.
