School Front Offices Open Today

Find out what's coming up on Canton-Sixes Patch today and what you might have missed overnight.

1. The front offices at all campuses will open at 8 a.m. today. Parents of students new to the district can register their children Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to noon. For the checklist of required documents for registration, click here. The 2012-13 school year begins Aug. 1.

2. The  is meeting at 6 p.m. tonight. Items on the agenda include discussion and possible resolution for the upcoming TSPLOST referendum, approval of an ordinance to delete the prohibition against knives in city parks and approval of the reservoir launch site lease. 3. No one has heard from Ricky, Darlene and Lindsey Norrell all day. And while a spokesman for the  said that "it appears likely" that the  this morning are theirs, Lt. Jay Baker said investigators can't "definitively conclude that" at this time.

4. Supporters of a constitutional amendment that asks voters if the state should have full authority to approve and fund local charter schools have started a social media campaign to get the measure passed in November.

5. A  native will be sworn in today as the Supreme Court of Georgia's newest justice. Judge Keith R. Blackwell was  to succeed Chief Justice George H. Carley, who resigned effective on Tuesday.
