Cherokee's Dr. Poidevant Named School Psychologist of Year

Cherokee County School Board will recognize Poidevant at Oct. 16 meeting.

A Cherokee County School District employee has been named the Georgia Association of School Psychologists' 2013 School Psychologist of the Year.

Dr. John Poidevant has worked as a CCSD school psychologist since 2006 and currently serves Avery and Macedonia elementary schools. He earned his degree in school psychology from the University of Florida.

“He calmly guides the administration and staff through crises and provides direct support for students and families,” CCSD Director of Special Education Charlette M. Green said in a press release from the school system. “He is viewed by parents and staff as professional, supportive and approachable. Dr. Poidevant is a shining example of what a school psychologist should strive to do to support students, parents and school staff.”
