Curious to learn more about Cherokee's new academies for fine arts, science, technology, engineering and mathematics?
The Β has announced the schedule for a series of expos intended to showcase the work of the students enrolled in the system's six Cherokee Academies. The district launched the first phase of the initiative this school year.
"In an effort to raise awareness among parents/guardians and the community relative to the ongoing activities and student accomplishments associated with our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Academies and Fine Arts Academies, each of our Academies is launching bi-annual Expos to be presented at each Academy every fall and spring semester," Superintendent Frank Petruzielo said Wednesday.

The first will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 10 at Oak Grove Elementary, the site of one of the district's two Fine Arts Academies. The last is scheduled for 6 p.m. Nov. 8 at . Canton is one of the district's four STEM Academies.Β
"Spring Expo 2013 events are being planned, and details will be communicated to you at a later date," Petruzielo said.
