Streets, Miles and Miles of Streets

By choosing to run for Canton City Council, Ward I, I am committing to 4 years of hard work for the people of Canton. Let’s begin!

Did you know that there are approximately 16 miles of city streets that are in a serious state of disrepair or are not even finished and are being used? Some are in high traffic areas. These streets are not up to code; many of these streets are in subdivisions where the developer has gone bankrupt.

I believe that the City of Canton needs to make this a priority and fix these streets for the safety of its people. The city needs to make a priority list of the streets that need repairs first using these criteria:

3.     Level of traffic volume

To protect the city from this ever happening again, the council recently passed a motion to make sure that every developer posts the appropriate bonds, so that the roads will get finished the correct way, in the appropriate amount of time.

That said, we still have 16 miles of streets that have to be repaired. I will make this a priority and see that it is done.
