Mayor Releases Slate of Committee Candidates

The city council can amend this slate when it is voted on during the Feb. 21 council meeting.

Mayor Gene Hobgood has released his slate of candidates for the various committees and boards that are staffed by Canton citizens at the Feb. 7 city council meeting.

Though the majority of Hobgood's selections are re-appointments, he has added some new faces to his slate. Proposals from the city council have been made that would increase the number of citizens on each board, ensuring that new candidates are selected and allowed to participate in Canton's government.

The mayor's slate of candidates will be voted on during the Feb. 21 city council meeting. At that time, the city council may reject the mayor's appointment of a certain candidate and replace him or her with a candidate of the council's choosing.
