Labor Day Closures; Flash Flood Watch for Cherokee

1. and will be closed today in honor of Labor Day. All , banks, , , and federal and state offices will be closed as well. There will be no mail delivery. Canton-Sixes Patch hopes you have a wonderful day at those holiday barbecues and gatherings. 

2. Tropical Storm Lee's impact has reached North Georgia. Cherokee County is under a flash flood watch until noon Tuesday. That means flooding is possible.

3. Canton-Sixes Patch is looking for its next Prep Athlete of the Week. Thursday, was the inaugural winner of the weekly award. Submit your nominations, along with a photo and 200 words on why that person deserves the award, to rodney.thrash@patch.com by 4 p.m. every Monday. Nominate someone as often as you'd like.

4. In addition to Prep Athlete of the Week, Canton-Sixes Patch is looking for its next . If you think your child, student or protege is worthy of this honor, nominate them as many times as you'd like. The winner's photograph and mini-bio will appear on the site at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

5. The Atlanta Regional Transportation Roundtable, which recently approved a draft of a $6.14 billion package of road improvements to be funded by a regional, penny sales tax referendum on the ballot next summer, wants input from Cherokee County residents. Look for details at 10 a.m.
