Last Chance for Public Comment on Cherokee's Proposed Millage Rate

1. The  will meet at 3 p.m. today for its work session and at 6 p.m. for its regular meeting. Commissioners will hold the second of two public hearings on the proposed 2012 millage rate during tonight's regular meeting, then consider adoption on July 26. In order to collect the same amount of property taxes in 2012, the county is proposing a revenue neutral millage rate.

2.  and , the candidates for  chair, took questions from media representatives, the public and each other Monday at the Cherokee County Republican Party headquarters in Towne Lake. Patch will have video later.

3. The  has confirmed that one of the bodies pulled from the rubble of last week's fire in Ball Ground is that of 46-year-old Darlene Norrell. But it will "likely take weeks" before authorities can positively identify the other two bodies.

4. The  has made an arrest in connection with a theft in BridgeMill. Brhea Wofford, 20, of Waleska, was arrested Friday and charged with three counts of financial transaction fraud and entering auto, said Lt. Jay Baker, spokesman for the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.
