Jorelys Rivera Murder Suspect Indicted

A little more than a month after authorities  in a compacting Dumpster from the apartment complex where she lived and died, a Cherokee County Grand Jury has indicted suspect .

Since he was arrested on Dec. 7, Brunn has been held at the on charges of murder and making false statements.

This week, according to a report from the Cherokee Ledger-News, new charges were added.

Brunn, a 20-year-old maintenance worker at the River Ridge at Canton apartment community, was indicted on two counts of cruelty to children in the first degree, aggravated child molestation, aggravated assault and battery, enticing a child for indecent purposes, false imprisonment, sexual exploitation of a child and abandonment of a dead body.

Daran Burns, one of Brunn's court-appointed attorneys, told Canton-Sixes Patch last month that to Jorelys' slaying. Pleas are entered at the time of arraignment, and Brunn's has not been scheduled.

Meanwhile, the Canton Police Department continues to face scrutiny in the wake of a Dec. 21 report that detailed the for Jorelys, who was  near a River Ridge playground.

At a press conference where he announced , Sheriff Roger Garrison said the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Child Abduction Response Team should have been on the ground the morning after Jorelys disappeared.

When CART joined the search at 7 a.m. Dec. 5, authorities in a matter of hours. An autopsy found that she likely died 60 to 90 minutes after she disappeared. Jorelys had been , GBI director Vernon Keenan said during a Dec. 6 press conference.
