I-575/Sixes Road Construction Begins, Telephone Town-Hall Turns to Cherokee

1. Members of the Atlanta Regional Transportation Roundtable are holding a series of telephone town-hall meetings to get feedback about local transportation priorities. At 6 tonight, the focus will turn to Cherokee County. 2. Wondering why the trees along the Interstate 575/Sixes Road interchange have been chopped down? Work has begun on a project to reconstruct it, Georgia Department of Transportation spokesman Mohamed Arafa said Monday. Click for his announcement.

3. In a letter to parents over the weekend, Cherokee Charter Academy announced that it was pursuing a new route: approval as a "state special charter school." Charter schools approved by the state board are eligible for state funding, not local school tax dollars.
