'Freedom Isn't Free'

Veterans, friends and family gathered at the Georgia National Cemetery to celebrate Memorial Day.

Hundreds gathered at the to honor and remember those who have fought and fallen for this country for the Sixth Annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Saturday. Since May 31, 2010, 22 Georgians have lost their lives in Iraq.

Although Gov. Nathan Deal was unable to make an appearance, Col. Brent Bracewell of the Georgia National Guard, who also has served as lieutenant, captain and lieutenant colonel over 24 years of active duty, moved a crowd of veterans and their friends and family with his words of experience and advice.

The overall theme seemed to be freedom isn't free. Rep. Tom Price shared a few words, asking all to remember this message in their everyday lives.

Georgia National Cemetery Director Margaret Helgerson echoed Price, saying individuals can be reminded of this message today as they walk on the hallowed grounds of the cemetery and think of the price veterans have paid for America's freedom.
